MASSENA — A malfunction in an electrical box caused a small fire at a New York Power Authority (NYPA) maintenance building Monday afternoon.
Firefighters responded to a reported fire around 1:15 p.m. but the fire was well under control by the time firefighters were on scene, according to Massena Fire Chief Bill Kearns.
Kearns said NYPA workers used a fire extinguisher to put the blaze out.
Firefighters remained on scene while NYPA de-energized the area to replace the part that malfunctioned, he said.
“It wasn’t severe,” he said. “It was well under control,.”
No injuries were reported.
