St. Lawrence County could be covered by up to eight inches of snow by Friday night, according to the National Weather Service. The entire area is under a hazardous weather advisory from 4 p.m. Thursday until 7 p.m. Friday.

Twenty-four hours of snow could give way to sub-zero temperatures in the coming days, meteorologists predict.

The NWS says Canton, Gouverneur and Potsdam could be in for 2 to 4 inches of snow Thursday night. Massena and Ogdensburg are forecast to get 3 to 5 inches. Star Lake could see 1 to 3, according to forecasters.

Thursday night temperatures around St. Lawrence County are predicted around 20 degrees, but perhaps not getting below 26 in Ogdensburg.

Friday’s snow should cease by the evening hours, but not before leaving another 1 to 3 inches on all areas of St. Lawrence County. Temperatures are forecast in the low 20s.

On Friday night, temperatures are expected to fall well below zero, the NWS says. Massena and Potsdam could see as low as -13, with the mountainous regions getting down to -17 degrees.
