RUSSELL – An Edwards man is being held on $50,000 cash or $100,000 bail bond after his arrest for the alleged kidnap of a woman from Russell early today.
Paul K. Willard, 36, 9 Grant St., Edwards, was identified as a suspect after St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies went to a residence at 638 Pestle Street Road in Russell at about 2 a.m. today to investigate a complaint of a domestic disturbance.
The caller said Willard had been in the house with a gun an had left with a female.
Deputies then pursued Willard to his house in Edwards, found the female unharmed, and took him into custody without incident.
Willard was arraigned in Town of Fowler Court, charged with second-degree kidnapping and first-degree burglary, both Class B felonies; first-degree criminal contempt, a Class E felony; and two Class A misdemeanors, second-degree menacing and endangering the welfare of a child, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Canton Police Department and New York State Police.
The investigation continues, investigators said.
