RUSSELL – The Edwards-Knox Central School District Board of Education Tuesday appointed Ronald P. Burke Superintendent of Schools, effective Nov. 14.
The appointment was made at the regular Board of Education.
The BOE conducted a confidential, single-candidate search with support from community stakeholders, a press release said. Input from stakeholders was extremely helpful in this process and weighed heavily in the Board’s decision to appoint Burke, the release continued.
“I am thrilled at the opportunity to return to Edwards-Knox Central School District as Superintendent of Schools,” said Burke. “I am eager to return to the school environment and look forward to working with the tremendous staff and students at Edwards-Knox.”
Burke currently serves as assistant superintendent for instruction at St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES. Formerly, he served as elementary principal at Edwards-Knox Central.
He also served as mathematics teacher and mathematics curriculum coordinator at Saranac Lake Central School District, adjunct mathematics instructor at North Country Community College and mathematics teacher at Chazy Central Rural School.
Burke earned a bachelor of arts and master of science from SUNY Potsdam, as well as a master of science in educational administration from the University of Scranton.
He holds a New York State teaching certification in mathematics, and New York state building leader and district leader certifications.
“Ron Burke is a passionate educator who has dedicated his career to public education,” said St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES District Superintendent Thomas Burns. “I have no doubt that he will do great things for the district.”
