An Eagle Scout who lives in Pontoon Beach, Ill. made a bench in memory of his grandfather Rene Pelletier, a Korean War veteran who lived in Hannawa Falls.
"Connor [Dumoulin] constructed the bench and directed a flag retirement ceremony to complete his requirements to become an Eagle Scout," his mother, Lisa Dumoulin, said in an email.
Pelletier served in the 5th Airborne Division of the Army Air Corps as a reconnaissance photographer during the Korean War. He died in February at age 83, Lisa Dumoulin said.
