Dry weather expected in North Country through Tuesday, rain Tuesday night and Wednesday

Dry weather and slightly above normal temperatures are expected across the North Country with high pressure over the region. Most of Tuesday will be dry as well, but a slow moving low pressure system will eventually bring widespread rain

Tuesday night into early Wednesday, the National Weather Service predicts. Drier weather will return for Thursday and Friday along with seasonal temperatures, according to forecasters.

Highs today and Tuesday will be around 85, with overnight lows near 60.

As the rain approaches Tuesday night, low temperatures will be in the mid 60s, and highs on Wednesday are expected to be in the mid 70s.

Forecasters say skies will clear Wednesday night with a low in the low to mid 50s, and sunny skies are expected Thursday with highs around 75.

The NWS forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and northwestern Adirondacks

• Today: Sunny, with a high near 85. South wind around 5 mph.

• Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 61. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph after midnight.

• Tuesday: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 4pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 83. South wind 6 to 10 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

• Tuesday Night: Showers. Low around 67. South wind 11 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

• Wednesday: Showers likely, mainly before 8am. Cloudy, with a high near 75. Southwest wind 10 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

• Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 53. West wind 5 to 8 mph.

• Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 76. West wind 5 to 8 mph.

• Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 57. Southwest wind around 6 mph.

• Friday: Sunny, with a high near 81. Southwest wind 6 to 8 mph.

• Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 60. South wind around 5 mph.

• Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 82. South wind 6 to 8 mph.

• Saturday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 63. South wind around 7 mph.
