CANTON -- St. Lawrence County Sheriff deputies say a Monday drug bust here yielded 47 kilograms of cocaine, just over $10 million worth, and landed a man in jail on accusations of possessing the drug.
Christopher L. Jandreau, 25, of North Lawrence is being held at the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility pending an appearance in federal court.
A news release from the sheriff's office says he was found with the drug but does not say what he is actually charged with.
Around 7 p.m. Monday, deputies stopped Jandreau on U.S. Route 11 while driving a 2012 Toyota Camry.
The release says deputies "became suspicious of Jandreau's behavior" and had a K9 sniff the exterior of the vehicle.
Following a hit from the dog, deputies searched the car and found five pressed powder brick pckages, later discovering a hidden compartment with 42 more, all of which tested positive for cocaine.
Deputies turned him over the Homeland Security Investigations in Massena.
