MORRISTOWN — The driver of a vehicle that caught fire following a property-damage accident on State Highway 37 fled the scene prior to law enforcement or rescue personal arrived on scene, according to Morristown Fire Department Chief Kevin Crosby.
The incident took place near 4056 State Highway 37 and was reported at 4:35 a.m. this morning.
Firefighters battled heavy fire in the engine compartment of the crashed pickup truck, Crosby said.
The vehicle was destroyed from the accident and fire, he said.
Nearly 20 firefighters, three junior firefighters and two rescue squad members were on scene along with St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies, state police and the Department of Transportation.
No arrests were reported.
Morristown Fire Department was back in service at 5:56 a.m.
