A preliminary version of St. Lawrence County’s planning for disasters is up on their web site for people to take a look at.
The 792-page draft St. Lawrence County Multi-Jurisdictional All-Hazard Mitigation Plan is available for review and comment until Sept. 3.

Comments may be submitted to the St. Lawrence County Planning Office, 48 Court St., Canton NY 13617, or to Planning@stlawco.org.
A hard copy is available at the County Planning Office, 48 Court Street, Canton, Room 255, Additional hard copies are expected to be available soon at City of Ogdensburg, City Hall; Town of Fine Offices, Town of Massena Offices; and Town of Gouverneur Offices.
The purpose of the hazard mitigation plan is to reduce or eliminate the risk from hazards on people, property and infrastructure. Short-term and long-term mitigation strategies through various pre-disaster planning efforts are included in the plan.
This plan signifies St. Lawrence County’s approach to the development of a Multi-Jurisdictional All-Hazard Mitigation Plan in order to seek mitigation funding in the future to alleviate the potential effects of natural, human-caused and technological disasters and hazards that may affect the county and participating jurisdictions.
