MASSENA -- Dozens of children competed in the Massena Recreation Department’s July 16 “Boss Frog Jumping Contest” at the Massena Arena.
Kids had the option of bringing their own frog or choosing one from bunches that were provided.
Participants were divided by age, including divisions for ages 5 and under, 6 to 9 and 10 and over.
The kids, going one at a time, tried to get their frog across a face-off circle in 45 seconds or less.
The are not allowed to touch the amphibians. They either have to slap the ground near the creature or blow on it. Some opted to try verbal commands.
