CANTON -- From Dec. 26 to 31, anyone who gives money to the St. Lawrence County Arts Council may be entered in a drawing to win a painting donated by local artist Denny Morreale.
In addition to making a donation during those dates, donors who wish to be entered into the drawing must comment on SLC Arts' Facebook page.
The comment thread for the drawing will not be posted until Dec. 26: https://www.facebook.com/StLawrenceCountyArtsCouncil.
"Sometimes people intend to make an end-of-the-year donation to a charity of their choice, but those good intentions stay sitting in their 'to-do' pile," said Suzy McBroom, SLC Arts executive director. "We want to give those folks some added incentive to not procrastinate their tax-deductible donation until it's too late for this year."
The artwork donated by Morreale is an 18-inch-by-24-inch acrylic painting on canvas titled "Cranberry Lake On A Summer Evening."
Morreale based the painting on a photograph taken by Valerie White. Both he and White are residents of Canton.
Morreale's website isdenny-morreale.artistwebsites.com.
Donations may be made to SLC Arts by visiting their website at www.slcartscouncil.org and clicking the "Donate" button at the bottom of any page, or by mailing a check to SLC Arts Council, PO Box 252, Potsdam NY 13676.
