MASSENA -- Massena Central School Superintendent Roger Clough showed Republican congressional candidate Matt Doheny of Watertown around the school Tuesday.
“We toured an elementary school to show that it’s a joint effort of all our schools that help to make us one of the best in the nation,” said Clough. “We visited some of the classrooms and talked with the students who were all too happy to have a guest in their classroom and talk about what they have been working on. We are very proud of this ranking and happy to show it off to Mr. Doheny.”
Doheny, Republican and Independence party candidate for the seat now held by Democrat Bill Owens, visited to see what Massena was doing for its high school to be ranked by U.S. News and World Report among the top five percent in the nation.
“I figured the elementary school routine had changed a bit since I attended the lower grades myself a few decades ago,” Doheny said. “But I don’t think I realized the extent of how technology and teacher innovation had changed classroom learning for the better until I toured Nightengale Elementary,” said Doheny.
