HAMMOND -- A dog from the Hammond area initially believed to have been stolen was found dead on its owner’s property, according to Sheriff Kevin Wells.
The dog, which answered to Bear, was believed to have gone missing on Saturday afternoon.
Wells said the dog died of natural causes and was never stolen.
“The owners were thankful for everybody’s help, what everybody did,” Wells said.
The dog’s owners were offering a $200 reward for the animal’s return.
