CANTON – The St. Lawrence County Board of Legislators Finance Committee has recommended filling a deputy sheriff position in anticipation of an upcoming vacancy.
The deputy would fill a resignation in the St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Criminal Division.
The opening would be filled as an entry-level position with a starting salary of $39,336.
Although the position was included in the 2014 budget, the board had to vote on whether or not to fill the position due to a 2008 hiring freeze for non-essential employees.
According the resolution the position is needed.
The resolution will need approval from the full board.
