POTSDAM -- A protest organized by students sparked by a recent death threat against a black professor culminated without incident on at the Maple Street bypass in Potsdam.
Students have called for additional security for people of color on campus in the wake of the most recent threat made against blacks and homosexuals.
Traffic was stopped for 5 to 10 minutes on the Maple Street Bridge.
Slogans including "Black Lives Matter," “Stop The Hate” and “Potsdam It’s Enough” were chanted by the approximately 200 to 300 people who participated.
Marchers have returned to campus where additional demonstrations are expected.
Students are using the hashtags #Blacklivesmatter, #ConcernedStudent1950 and #Potsdamitsenough to provide updates on social media.
