POTSDAM – The state and county Democratic Party committees have ground-floor leased space at 38 Market St. for a campaign office this year.
Posters for candidate for Congress Aaron Woolf hang in the windows, and the Woolf campaign is using the office for operations in the county, including telephone solicitations.
“It is staffed by volunteers. All 12 county legislator candidates are using the office, and the phones are also being used for Assemblywoman (Addie) Russell’s campaign,” said St. Lawrence County Democratic Committee Chair Mark Bellardini.
“It’s a general party office that we open every two years,” he said, to promote candidates for the St. Lawrence County Board of Legislators, state Senate and Assembly candidates, Democrats running for the statewide offices – governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general and comptroller –candidates for the U.S. Congress and Senate, and, every four years, president and vice-president.
A phone bank inside is to be used for campaign fundraising and get-out-the-vote drives, and staffers will have campaign materials for interested people.
Bellardini said the party plans a fundraiser for Woolf and the party Sept. 10 at Sergi’s Italian Restaurant, just up Market Street.
