CANTON – Democrats won all contested races in the town and village of Canton Tuesday.
In a three-way race for town councilman, Democrats Rosemary Philips, with 678 votes, and Bob Washo, with 613, were elected to the two seats up for grabs.
Democrat James T. Smith, who failed to pick up the nomination of his party for the race to keep his seat and ran on the Conservative Party line, received 539. Incumbent Jesse Coburn did not run again.
In the village, Incumbent Democrat Carol Pynchon, with 453 votes, and political newcomer Democrat Sean O’Brien, with 416, won two village trustee seats. Former mayor and trustee Dave Curry, a Republican, received 246 votes.
Republican trustee Michael E. Dalton ran unopposed for mayor to replace Mary Ann Ashley, who did not run again.
The results are unofficial and do not include absentee ballots.
