POTSDAM -- Incumbent Democrat Jim Bunstone says he is running for a second term as a St. Lawrence County legislator representing district 10, the village of Potsdam.
“It’s still going to be the budget” as the main issue, Bunstone said.
“When I ran before, the budget was obviously the key issue, and to keep property taxes as low as possible.”
Bunstone said the five-year budget plan the county Board of Legislators came up with allowed them to eliminate any property tax increase this year, “so we accomplished what we said we would do.” And for the next few years, the plan is to limit increases to 2 percent a year. “That’s our goal for this year, and then the years after that.”
“It’s been enjoyable, interesting,” Bunstone said of his first four-year term, and that he is looking forward to another term.
Also vying for the seat is Republican Joe Timmerman, a SUNY Potsdam professor.
