LOUISVILLE -- - New York's District 21 candidate Patrick Nelson (D-Stillwater) took to the floor in Louisville recently to speak about healthcare, listen to stories from constituents, answer questions and lay out his vision for the future of the North Country.

Nelson's latest town hall and the fifth of his campaign was held at the Louisville Fire Hall to a crowd of over fifty.

According to Nelson, Congresswoman Stefanik has not visited Louisville since being elected.

According to a press release from Nelson, several constituents praised Nelson at the meeting.

Kathy Green, a nurse practitioner, who works with veterans was extremely pleased in the Democratic candidate's intellect when it came to explaining a single-payer system and the need to bring a VA hospital up north. She, like many other providers, are having a tough time with our current healthcare system.

"Patrick discussed the need to improve on services to local veterans and supports the initiation of proposing legislation in support of funding a VA facility in this district," Kathy Green said, according to the press release.

Another constituent in attendance was Cody Jock, a 22-year-old member of the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe, who is currently studying political science at Syracuse University. Cody has protested in the past against the Dakota Pipeline and is very passionate about protecting his culture. He was very pleased to have the opportunity to have his questions answered by Patrick during the two hour-long meeting.

"Patrick Nelson is a breath of fresh air for the North Country." stated Cody Jock. "As a lifelong resident of the 21st district and member of the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe, he's receptive to native values and issues that affect not just the reservation, but also the surrounding communities. If we can all come together as a district to unite around Nelson we can truly accomplish anything as neighbors and allies."

Patrick will be announcing more town hall events in the weeks to come.
