Democratic Franklin County Board of Legislators Chair Billy Jones will take over the 115th state Assembly district seat being vacated by Republican Janet Duprey of Peru.
Jones received 23,554 votes Tuesday, compared to 21,375 by his Republican challenger, Franklin County Sheriff Kevin Mulverhill.
The 115th district includes the towns of Brasher, Hopkinton, Lawrence and Piercefield in eastern St. Lawrence County as well as all of Franklin and Clinton counties.
In St. Lawrence County, Mulverhill received 1,089 votes, compared to 755 for Jones.
In Clinton County, Jones led, with 14,684 votes, compared to 13,211 for Mulverhill.
In Franklin County Jones was ahead with 8,115 votes, while Mulverhill had 7,075.
The results are unofficial and do not include absentee ballots.
