DEKALB – A DeKalb teenager has collected more than 130 prom dresses, 30 pairs of shoes and variety of jewelry and dresses to distribute to teens throughout St. Lawrence County.

McKenzie Marcellus, a sophomore at Hermon-DeKalb Central School “A Cinderella Ending” foundation to ensure teens throughout the county have access to prom apparel.

She began collecting items in February and will be accepting donations until April 5, where she will hold a distribution event at Hermon DeKalb Central School from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Marcellus has already exceeded her goal of collecting 50 dresses and said she hopes the program continues to grow in coming years.

The event is open to all St. Lawrence County residents and there are no income guidelines or restrictions for those interested in receiving clothes, shoes or jewelry.

Marcellus said she is hoping many girls will attend the event and thanked everyone for their donations and others who have helped make her event a success.

“My mission is to give out dresses, shoes and accessories to girls all over the county for their Cinderella prom night,” she said in a news release. “I need the help of my community to donate dresses for this special event.”

To donate simply call McKenzie at 323-4548 or send an email to kenzie.marcellus@gmail.com, and arrangements will be made to pick up the items.

Arrangements for deliver may be available for those who can’t attend the event.

The clothing and accessories will be available to any girl from any school interested in receiving them.
