DEKALB – A DeKalb teen died today as a result of injuries sustained from a UTV accident Tuesday evening in a grassy field off of East DeKalb Road, according to state police.
Grant J. Woodrow, 13, died at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse while being treated for internal injuries and a broken femur, troopers said.
Troopers said Woodrow was operating a 2014 Polaris Ranger and overturned the machine after making an abrupt right turn. The UTV overturned on its driver’s side coming to rest on top of Woodrow.
Woodrow was transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital Tuesday night and then airlifted to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse by LifeNet of New York.
Troopers said he was not wearing a helmet or a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The crash is still under investigation.
