OGDENSBURG — A DeKalb Junction man was arrested Thursday after fleeing police twice and being found in possession of multiple drugs following a traffic stop, according to Ogdensburg police.

Police said they stopped a vehicle on Franklin Street because officers knew the driver did not have a valid driver’s license.

The operator of the vehicle, Derek J. Denny, 35, abandoned the running vehicle on the street and fled on foot, police said.

He was located a short time later at a Franklin Street residence and found in possession of methamphetamine, crack cocaine, and heroin.

Denny was charged with three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, felony; third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, felony; seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation.

While being taken out of the cell for processing, Denny ran out of the processing room and exited the police station, officers said.

He was physically subdued and taken back into custody, officers said.

He was held pending arraignment.
