DEKALB -- A DeKalb man was arrested Thursday following an investigation of a child being bitten by a dog, according to St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies.
Deputies allege a child living in Jesse Hollinger's household was bitten by the family dog.
Hollinger then took the dog to a rural road and abandoned it there, officers said.
Hollinger failed to notify police or medical personnel that he had gotten rid of the dog, deputies said.
He was unable to provide record shots for the dog, and failed to quarantine the dog as required, police said.
Hollinger was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment and abandoning an animal.
The reckless endangerment charge stems from letting the dog run at large, putting the public at risk, according to police.
Both charges are misdemeanors.
Hollinger was released on appearance tickets returnable in DeKalb court at a later date.
An animal control officer found and quarantined the dog, deputies said.
