COLTON – A DeKalb Junction man was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and other infractions after his vehicle flipped and landed in water Wednesday at the intersection of State Rts. 56 and 68.

John A. Clark, 64, 395 Old State Road, DeKalb Junction, lost control of his 2003 Chevrolet Suburban at about 4 p.m. as he drove east on Rt. 68, failing to reduce his speed as he approached the intersection in wet and foggy conditions, according to state police.

Troopers said Clark failed to see the stop sign and his vehicle struck the sign post, continued through the intersection, and hit a guard rail head on, which flipped the car before it landed in shallow water. The rail and another sign were damaged.

Clark was charged with aggravated DWI with a reported blood alcohol level of 0.19 percent, and was issued tickets for speed not reasonable for conditions and failure to stop at a stop sign.

He is to answer the charges in Town of Colton court Dec. 13.
