DEKALB -- The DeKalb Historical Association will hold an open house and reception Friday, April 17, for its new exhibit, “The History of M.E Church: Now and Then,” from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Meetinghouse Museum, 696 East DeKalb Rd.
The night will include an informational building tour, light refreshments, and an open forum for questions about the church and local history.
The exhibit shows history of the church founded in 1839. Since then it has undergone a series of transformations. The most recent and the large focus of the exhibition is the restoration of the building that led to its current usage for the Historical Association.
Recently the association acquired the original 1838 Book of Records of the founding and construction of the church. The association says the artifact inspired them to ask local St. Lawrence student, Jenna Mead, to work on an exhibit displaying the building’s history.
The exhibit presents the pieces of history that have gone unseen by visitors and local residents. It has been close to 20 years since the restoration began. The exhibit pays tribute to the many community members who assisted in the process.
Anyone is welcome. Info: Jenna Mead at 603-714-599.
