The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) invites duck hunters to all of its public lands to hunt, but DEC staff is asking hunters to take note that some areas are experiencing low waters.
Upper & Lower Lakes WMA waters have also been impacted by severe drought conditions.
Water levels are approximately one foot lower than in 2015. Upper & Lower Lakes WMA is located about two miles west of the village of Canton along State Route 68.
Water levels at Wilson Hill WMA vary depending on the pool. The West Pool & Bradford Pool are both slightly higher than last fall.
The East Pool and the Nichols Pool are both being kept at nearly the same levels as last year. The new, accessible hunting blind at Nichols pool is ready for duck season.
Wilson Hill WMA is located in northern St. Lawrence County, approximately six miles west of the village of Massena off State Route 37.
