OGDENSBURG -- The Department of Environmental Conservation is taking public comment on a proposal to check for contamination at the former Augsbury Tank Farm, Riverside Avenue, which could lead to it being converted for residential and commercial use.
They will take comments from May 26 to June 25.
“The investigation will define the nature and extent of contamination in soil, surface water, groundwater and any other parts of the environment that may be affected,” DEC said. “The investigation will include the collection and analysis of surface soil, subsurface soil, and groundwater samples from across the site. If deemed necessary, soil and groundwater samples will be collected from offsite areas. Sediment samples will also be collected along the bank of the St. Lawrence River.”
DEC says the tests at the former Augsbury site will include “collection and analysis of surface soil, subsurface soil, and groundwater samples from across the site. If deemed necessary, soil and groundwater samples will be collected from offsite areas. Sediment samples will also be collected along the bank of the St. Lawrence River.”
DEC says after a 45-day comment period, they will release an approved work plan.
