Death of Potsdam dentist, found dead Monday, being investigated by state police

POTSDAM – State police are investigating the death of a Potsdam dentist, who was charged with driving while intoxicated Sunday, and discovered deceased at his residence Monday.

Jeffrey G. Foerster, 61, of Stockholm, was pronounced dead Monday. Foerster purchased North Country Dental Services from Dr. Edmond Ormond Potsdam in 2008.

State police are investigating the incident, but have not released details yet.

According to Foerster's North Country Dental Services website, he was commissioned in the United States Army Dental Corp, where he was selected for a one year General Practice Residency.

After various assignments, he furthered his education by attending a two-year speciality training program and within a period of one year he became board certified.

Having received numerous awards throughout his career including, the highest recognition for excellence and expertise by the surgeon general of the United States Army.

Foerster retired at rank of colonel.

He had been arrested several times in the past.

He was charged Sunday, with drunken driving and resisting arrest.

In October, he was charged with falsifying business records and attempted criminal purchase of weapon after he allegedly tried to purchase a .243 caliber rifle at North Woods Outfitters.

In 2010, Foerster was charged with unlawful imprisonment and harassment after he allegedly refused to let his assistant leave his house.

Foerster was also charged with driving under the influence and assaulting an officer shortly after purchasing the practice from Ormond in 2008.
