POTSDAM -- A technical problem is causing a disruption at SUNY Potsdam.
“SUNY Potsdam’s campus is experiencing issues … due to a critical piece of data storage that’s malfunctioned,” college spokesperson Alex Jacobs-Wilke said.
Because of the failure, campus email and Moodle are not working, which reportedly has led to some professors cancelling classes, but that hasn’t been confirmed.
“It’s very possible individual faculty members, as is their right to do, may have adjusted class schedules,” Jacobs-Wilke said. “It affects … a number of our services.”
She said Bearpaws has also fallen victim to the crash. PACES services are still up and running, so students can still use meal plans, Jacobs-Wilke said.
She said campus Computing and Technology services have been working since Tuesday to correct the glitch.
“Our campus Computing & Technology Services manages all this … it’s a top priority. They’ve been working through the night,” she said. “They are posting updates on their Facebook page. If people have questions, they can post them there and keep track of how repairs are going.”
She said campus events are proceeding as planned.
