In Massena, Democrats Albert Deshaies and Francis Carvel will keep their seats as village trustees. Carvel took in 2,035 votes and Deshaies 1,851. Republican challenger Joel Grigg had 1,569 votes. There were six write-ins.

Travis Dann, a member of the St. Lawrence County Board of Legislators, has defeated Conservative Steven Jackson for a Gouverneur town justice seat. Dann is running under the Democrat and Republican tickets.

Dann received 1,149 votes to Jackson's 375. There were two write-ins.

This will create an opening on the St. Lawrence County legislature. Dann was one of three break-away Republicans who joined with Democrats last year to remove Joseph R. Lightfoot as chairman of the board.

The other Republicans who ousted Lightfoot were Larry Denesha, R-DeKalb, and John Burke R-Norfolk, who was named the new chairman in January.

Waddington Democrats Benny Fairchild and Matthew O'Bryan will serve on the village board, voters decided. Fairchild garnered 229 votes and O'Bryan 245. Republican Jacqueline A. Brooks received 215 votes. Republican Matthew Mayette ran unopposed for a three-year term, getting 311 votes to a single write-in.

In the Town of Lawrence, voters chose Democrat Tracy Villnave for town clerk with 242 votes, to Republican Nicole Irwin-Villnave's 211 and independent Sarah Ashley's 144.

In the Town of Fine, Republican Connie Snider was chosen for a town council seat with 288 votes over Democrat Barbara Horner's 214.

The tallies are unofficial and do not include absentee ballots.
