RUSSELL -- Darrick C. Cutway, son of Rick Cutway and Cynthia Cutway of Edwards, is the Edwards-Knox Central valedictorian with a 96.5 average. He will receive an advanced Regents diploma with honors, with mastery in mathematics and science.

Cutway is a member of the National Honor Society and has been on the Outstanding Honor Roll every year. He has earned numerous excellence awards for his academic work in all subject areas, as well as awards for highest Regents exam score in earth science, best effort in chemistry and the Air Force Mathematics and Science Award in 11th grade. He has been a member of the soccer and golf teams, as well as the basketball team in ninth and 10th grade. He was awarded the Section X All-Academic in soccer and golf.

He plans to attend Albany College of Pharmacy in the fall to work towards a doctoral degree in pharmacy.

Molly O. Burger, daughter of Leo Burger and Lisa Thomas of Russell, is named salutatorian with a cumulative average of 96.2 and will receive an advanced Regents diploma with honors, with mastery in mathematics and science.

She graduated in August 2014 but is still considered a member of the Class of 2015, according to school guidance secretary Dawn Finnerty.

Burger is a member of National Honor Society, student government and served as class treasurer. She earned numerous awards for her effort and outstanding academic performance in all subject areas. She was also a member of the soccer and softball teams, where she earned Section X All-Academic Awards.

Burger participates in several community service activities, such as working as a reading assistant at the public library, a server for the Methodist free meal program and a letter writer for Amnesty International. She also participated in the National Honor Society volunteer activities.

Burger is spending this school year attending Gesamtschule Giessen-Ost High School in Giessen, Germany as a foreign exchange student. She is living with her host family, Oliver Schaefer, Katrin Schaefer and their daughters Lina, Paula and Karlatto. As an exchange student, she has learned the German language and attended a local school, getting to know the German people. She was awarded a full scholarship from the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Program to be a youth ambassador.

Molly plans to study economics and German at Dickinson College.
