CANTON -- Dierdre Scozzafava, the deputy secretary of state for local government under Gov. Andrew Cuomo and former North Country assemblywoman, will discuss the Tax-Free NY initiative at SUNY Canton today at 6 p.m.
The governor’s Tax-Free NY plan is designed to entice companies to invest in upstate New York by offering a completely tax-free period. Eligible companies would pay no income tax for employees and no sales, property or business taxes for 10 years.
Eligible businesses will include businesses with a relationship to a SUNY college, new business, out-of-state businesses that relocate to New York and startups or existing businesses that expand their New York operations.
