SOUTH COLTON -- Cross-country skiing at Higley Flow State Park should be excellent today.
According to Ed and Judy Fuhr of the Friends of Higley Flow State Park, Cedar Brook, Pine, Old Pine, Camp loops and roads were groomed and track-set late Saturday afternoon.
There is also a tiny, flat loop in back of the lodge for any young skiers to play on.
The new lodge recently opened at the park and serves as a base for activities at the park for many families, according to the Fuhrs.
A number of local residents contributed financially to make the Trails Lodge Project p[ossible.
Mary Jane Watson wrote the grant that paid for much of the materials to build the lodge, which was supplemented by money raised from the donors and working capital in the Friends of Higley bank account.
The parks maintenance staff constructed the lodge and Henry and Shari provided support.
