MASSENA -- Interim Superintendent William Crist told the Board of Education on Thursday that the district will interview candidates for a permanent principal at Nightingale Elementary during the last week of the month and should have a candidate for the board to decide on at their next meeting.
“I am optimistic at the November 7 meeting I’ll be bringing a recommendation for your consideration and approval,” Crist said. “We’ve received several candidates from both inside and outside the district.”
Shannon Jordan had resigned from the post effective Oct. 13, which she had held for just over four years.
Part of the board’s personnel actions on Thursday night was to approve William Flynn as interim Nightingale principal at a rate of $350 per day until a replacement is found.
“Mr. Flynn has done a great job and is committed to staying on throughout the search process,” Crist said.
Part of the principal hunt, according to Crist, is gathering input from stakeholder groups such as teachers, parents, and support staff.
“I think it’s important we include opinions and viewpoints from as broad of a group as possible,” Crist said.
