CRANBERRY LAKE -- The Cranberry Lake Boat Club’s 2013 poker paddle raised $1,225 to support the Clifton Community Library’s programs for children and youth.
Absolutely perfect weather brought over 80 paddlers, including 22 “virtual” paddlers.
The Boat Club said it is grateful to the Cranberry Lake Lodge for assisting the club host the event, and to the many businesses and individuals who contributed time and over $1,600 in prizes for participants.
Founded in 1909, the Cranberry Lake Boat Club is one of the oldest of its kind in the Adirondack Region, and is organized to promote the full use of the lake and surrounding environment. Since the 1990s, the club has provided over $20,000 in projects to enhance the region, and secured two grants totaling over $9,000 for the Clifton Beach Park.
Additional projects have included new welcome signs to the communities of Wanakena and Cranberry Lake, contributions to the Clifton-Fine Hospital clinic, assistance with two loon floating nests, and many other projects.
