POTSDAM -- Community Performance Series of Potsdam will honor Syracuse Symphony Orchestra tickets for the May 7 CPS Guest Artist Series performance of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.
The Syracuse Symphony Orchestra has had financial challenges and was forced to cancel the remainder of its concerts this season. While the symphony is not refunding ticket holders, CPS will allow free admission to the May 7 concert in Potsdam in exchange for any unused SSO tickets.
The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center performs at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 7, in Hosmer Concert Hall at SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music.
"The suspension of the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra is a tremendous loss to the upstate arts community," said CPS Executive Director Amy Flack.
"The orchestra has built a following of loyal audience members, who must be as devastated by this turn of events as the musicians and staff," Flack said. "For this reason, Community Performance Series is pleased to join the other regional arts organizations that have extended ticket exchange offers. It is our hope that by reaching out during these challenging times, we can ensure continued access to quality classical music performances."
Syracuse Symphony tickets holders may call the CPS Box Office at 267-2277 to trade their tickets and reserve their seats for the Chamber Music Society concert on May 7.
The Chamber Music Society is one of 12 constituents of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the largest performing arts complex in the world, sharing the Center with the New York Philharmonic, New York City Ballet, Lincoln Center Theater and the Metropolitan Opera, among others.
The CMS concert in Potsdam will feature Wu Han on piano, Erin Keefe on violin, Kristin Lee on violin, Richard O'Neill on viola and Andrés Díaz on cello. The program will include works by Haydn, Dohnányi and Dvořák.
