CANTON – A county inmate is accused of trying to recruit his mother from Chase Mills to bring him drugs in jail.
Russell F. Dendler, 23, has been charged with first-degree attempted promoting prison contraband, a felony, and fifth-degree conspiracy, a misdemeanor.
He was arraigned in Canton Village Court. Bail was set at $3,000 cash or $6,000 bond.
No charges were reported against Dendler’s mother, Angela M. Swinyer, 41, of Ruddy Road, Chase Mills.
St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies said the arrest stems from an investigation involving drugs into the county lockup, which resulted in an arrest earlier.
