MASSENA -- The Town Council is considering an offer from WPBS that would have Massena commercials airing in Boston and to the north in Canada.
At Wednesday’s town board meeting, two WPBS representatives from Watertown said the council could get the TV and digital advertising package for $15,951.
They said it would advertise Massena as a fishing destination, and the town airport and Boutique Air, which does daily flights to and from Boston. The tagline, according to Marc Muglia from WPBS, would be "The pros fish here. So can you. Plan your vacation today."
The town would get 943 spots over eight weeks in Boston through Comcast, and the town would own the 30-second commercial and be able to use it on their website or other platforms. It would also show through affiliates in the Kingston, Cornwall and Ottawa, Ontario areas.
In addition, there would be a targeted digital advertisement that would be shown in the Boston area.
The TV ads would air January through May to give time for people to plan summer 2019 vacations, Muglia said.
The board took no action on the matter. Town Supervisor Steve O’Shaughnessy said they would revisit the idea at an upcoming board meeting.
