DANNEMORA -- State police reportedly arrested 57-year old Clinton Correctional Facility Correction Officer Gene Palmer of Dannemora for his role in the escape of two prisoners from the maximum security prison.
Palmer is charged with first-degree promoting prison contraband, felony, two counts of tampering with physical evidence, felonies, and one count of official misconduct, troopers said.
The arrest is reportedly the result of the ongoing investigation into the escape of inmates David Sweat, 35 and Richard Matt, 48.
Palmer pleaded not guilty and was remanded to the Clinton County Jail on $25,000 bail, officers said.
