NORWOOD – An eight-year-old Potsdam girl died of accidental drowning Tuesday, an autopsy report shows.
On Aug. 11, 2016, an autopsy was conducted by Dr. Samuel A. Livingstone at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Dr. Livingstone determined the cause of death to be asphyxiation due to warm water drowning.
St. Lawrence County Coroner James Sienkiewycz ruled the manner of death to be accidental.
Angelina M. Jarrett was found by Norwood Beach lifeguards submerged in about eight feet of water and not breathing shortly before 7 p.m., according to state police.
Life saving measures were initiated by the lifeguards and Norwood Rescue first responders, troopers said.
The girl was taken to Canton-Potsdam Hospital where she was pronounced dead at about 7:30 p.m.
