Cold again tonight, warming, wetter Wednesday in St. Lawrence Valley

The cool temperatures in the North Country will remain tonight, making for patchy frost throughout the North Country before it begins to warm up tomorrow with the arrival of rain.

According to the National Weather Service, The high pressure building into the North Country will provide the partly sunny skies today along with seasonably cool temperatures, and will allow for radiational cooling after sundown.

It will be mostly clear and chilly tonight with areas of frost. Low temperatures tonight are expected to range from the upper 20s to the mid 30s across the region.

A warm front arriving late Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night will bring rain showers to the area, with rainfall amounts generally less than a quarter inch.

The NWS forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and northwestern Adirondacks:

• Today: Sunny, with a high near 58. West wind 8 to 11 mph.

• Tonight: Patchy frost after 3am. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 34. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

• Wednesday: Showers likely, mainly after 4pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 65. Southeast wind 7 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

• Wednesday Night: Showers likely, mainly before 7pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 46. Southwest wind 8 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

• Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 71. Breezy, with a west wind 14 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.

• Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 46. Southwest wind 5 to 9 mph becoming light west in the evening.

• Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 65. West wind 5 to 8 mph.

• Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 47. Light and variable wind.

• Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 68. Calm wind becoming northwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.

• Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51. Light and variable wind.
