CANTON – Travel Unlimited will be moving from its 18 Park St. location to 367 Judson St. while the Main Street road work is underway over the next two years.

Owner Deb Christy said it’s not so much to escape the construction as it is to take advantage of an offer from the road contractor to rent her store and parking lot to use as a local office while the work goes on.

“They were looking for a spot close to Rt. 11,” Christy said. “They like the parking lot, and they can come in the back way,” avoiding Main Street.

She said she thought about it and, aside from the money, which she said could pay for a new roof for her building, the convenience for her customers during the road work tipped the balance.

Contractor Luck Brothers of Plattsburgh have signed a lease for two years in behalf of the state Department of Transportation, Christy said.

Meanwhile, Christy will run her travel agency from a home office at 367 Judson St., about a mile from State Rt. 310 on the left heading out of town.

Christy said she expected to be up and running at the house on Monday, April 30.

The telephone number for Travel Unlimited remains 386-8525. Open hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and nights and weekends by appointment.
