AKWESASNE -- Members of Ironworkers Local 440 recently erected the first piece of steel for the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s new Administration Building located on Business Park Road in Akwesasne.
When completed in September 2018, the 54,700-square-foot building will provide one central location for community members to access tribal government offices.
The building is being constructed by Bette & Cring, whose bid complies with the Tribe’s Native Preference Policy to utilize a skilled Mohawk workforce of no less than 40 percent.
Jefford’s Steel and Local 440, which is comprised of mostly Mohawk ironworkers, were awarded the sub-contract to supply and erect the steel structure.
