POTSDAM -- PC Construction is donating a $10,000 to Clarkson University as part of its “Building Communities: PC Construction Gives Back” online public voting contest.
Clarkson University students, alumni and friends participated in the contest, garnering 70 percent of the more than 31,000 votes cast by the public.
Six colleges and universities took part in the social-media fueled contest developed by the 100 percent employee-owned construction firm, which has worked on some of the most vibrant campuses in the Northeast to build leading-edge facilities that help foster a positive learning environment for future leaders. After Clarkson University, the University of Maine, Orono, received the second-most votes and the University of New Hampshire finished in third. In separate events, PC Construction will donate $3,000 and $2,000 to UMaine and UNH, respectively.
PC Construction is thrilled to return to Potsdam, New York, where the Clarkson University Student Center the company built a few years ago anchors the campus. In addition, PC Construction built one of the laboratories now used by construction engineering management students.
“This contest allows us to show our deep appreciation for institutions like Clarkson, UMaine, UNH and many others who have welcomed PC Construction on their campuses through the years,” said Jay Fayette, senior vice president of PC Construction.
PC Construction’s $10,000 donation will support Clarkson University’s Construction Engineering Management (CEM) program, which is directed by Erik Backus.
“PC Construction has been a great partner with Clarkson University, not only by building some of our marquee structures, but also by giving back to our educational mission in so many ways,” said Erik Backus.
In addition to regularly recruiting promising students from Clarkson’s Construction Engineering Management program, PC Construction presented its annual $2,000 Clarkson University scholarship to student Jacqui Scibior.
