North Country Congresswoman-elect Stefanik chosen as representative of 'incoming class' on House Policy Committee

The 21st Congressional District Representative-elect, Elise Stefanik, has been elected by her peers in the House to serve as the representative of the “incoming class” on the House Policy Committee.

In that position she will act as liaison between the newest members and the policy leadership in Congress, according to a press release from her office..

Her election to the Policy Committee by a majority vote of newly-elected members gives Stefanik the opportunity to have more input than the average new member into legislative policy debates, and to be, if not at the center of policymaking, then at least in the same room with senior policymakers.

“I am so grateful that my peers in the incoming freshman class put their trust in me to represent them on the policy committee,” said Rep.-elect Stefanik in the release. “As I have said since day one of my campaign, I am focused on bringing new ideas to the table that will help bring jobs and improve the lives of North Country residents. This position is a first step in keeping that pledge to the district."

Stefanik and the other new members are to be sworn in officially Jan. 3, after a new Speaker of the House is elected.
