Congressman Bill Owens will be in St. Lawrence County on Monday, with stops planned in Massena and Canton.
Owens will be at the Massena Elks Lodge from noon to 12:30 p.m. to hear a presentation on the Maritime Discovery Center project, and will speak with Mayor James Hidy about economic development.
The Plattsburgh Democrat will be at Canton Central School from about 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. to met with about 20 sixth to 12th grade members of the Future Farmers of America about their concerns for agriculture. The students have been developing their public speaking skills, learning the FFA official ceremonies, and lobbying state officials for equitable school funding. Superintendent William Gregory and Principal Mark Passamonte will also be there.
