Congressional candidate Cobb releases second ad of general election called 'Sweep'

CANTON –– Tedra Cobb, former St. Lawrence County Legislator and Democratic candidate for the 21st Congressional District released her second ad of the general election, “Sweep.”

The ad highlights Tedra Cobb’s leadership in ethics reform while on the St. Lawrence County Legislature and her pledge to not accept money from corporations.

Rep. Elise Stefanik however, has accepted millions from corporate special interests, including the pharmaceutical and health insurance industries, a release from Cobb’s campaign says. “Rep. Stefanik’s voting record shows she is willing to ignore the needs of her constituents and instead look out for her donors.”

Cobb said she is running for Congress because Elise Stefanik voted to kick my daughter and 64,000 other residents in this district off their health care.

“Unlike Rep. Stefanik, this is my home and I will fight to protect the values of Northern New Yorkers, not the corporate special interests that have bankrolled Stefanik’s campaigns. Unlike Elise Stefanik, I won’t take corporate PAC checks and in Washington, I’ll fight for us, not the corporate special interests that are encouraging Elise Stefanik to take away our health care and pollute our environment,” said Cobb.

In the ad, Cobb is heard saying: “When I was in the County Legislature, I pushed and passed a tough ethics law to hold elected officials accountable. Well this Congress needs a clean sweep too. Congresswoman Stefanik is bankrolled by big corporate special interests and she votes their way. Letting insurers charge obscene prices for pre-existing conditions and letting polluters dump toxic waste into our waterways and get away with it. I’m Tedra Cobb and I approve this message because I don’t take corporate money, so I’ll be accountable only to you.”
