MASSENA -- Due to a computer glitch, Massena Memorial Hospital may have recorded inaccurate financial statements and underbilled certain services for several months, according to its top administrator.
MMH CEO Charles Fahd said the hiccup is in software known as LSS. It caused them to undercharge for outpatient services provided at the clinic opposite the main building on Maple Street and could go as far back as February.
Although outpatient visits were at or above budget, "we have seen a decrease in revenue we did not anticipate."
When asked if the glitch would interrupt any services, Fahd answered “Absolutely not.”
He said Meditech, which owns LSS, is investigating the problem. He said there is no timeframe for getting a solution, but hopes it is before the June board meeting.
There was no April financial summary at the MMH Board of Managers May 19 meeting.
Their most recent report, given last month, says they finished March at a $452,658 deficit. They reported losing $425,865 in February.
Both of those figures may change by next month.
