Community Lunch Program for Kids seeks food donations for children in Norwood-Norfolk area

NORWOOD -- The Community Lunch Program for Kids, which provides food for children in the Norwood-Norfolk School District, is seeking donations for spring break in April.

The program was launched last summer to address the needs of our local families with children, many of whom rely on the free/reduced-price breakfast and lunch program through NNCS during the school year but are left without this help when school is not in session.

The program carried out two food distributions to families last summer and one during the recent February break where 60 families with over 160 children were served.

The program is supported by volunteers and relies on the support of the community for donations of nonperishable food items.

Four local businesses have agreed to have food collection boxes at their stores. Donations can be made in Norwood at Dollar General and Perry’s Big M; and in Norfolk at Al Smith’s Superette and Fefee’s Market.
